This is a steering system used in some automobiles.
It is double pivoted, the outer ends of the steering arms are bent inward, (but only a little bit). When a car with Ackerman steering makes a turn, the inside wheel turns more sharply than the outside wheel turns. This is because the outside wheel has to travel a greater distance over the course of the turn. The main benefit of this is increased tire life, (and slightly better handling in turns).
