tragedy surge

A sudden increase in devastating events, such as multiple incidents of violence or disasters (or any other calamities, catastrophes, and/or cataclysms) occurring in rapid succession, just one bad thing after another, be they personal, national, or global. Sometimes seen as tragedysurge, other times as tragedy-surge, although the two-word phrase tends to be most common and acceptable, and may very well be in the running for phrase of the year for 2025 here in the ol' U. S. of A. The best-known example of a tragedy surge is the biblical plagues of Egypt.
