Anafiel meaning "branch of God" is an angel associated with the prophet ENOCH and the angel METATRON.
He is identified as one of the angels who carries Enoch to heaven. He was also the angel chosen by God to punish Metatron at one time with a flogging of 60 lashes. Anafiel is also the keeper of the keys of the heavenly halls, and is cited in the Merkabah, early Jewish mystical tradition, as chief of the eight great angels of heaven.
