A damn good cartoonist who chronicled the Cartoon History of the Universe, volumes one and two, perhaps more.

He didn't write the Cartoon Guide to Economics, better than any mere textbook I've ever seen when it comes to sheer usable economics knowledge (And it mentions Thorstein Veblen).

His Cartoon Guide to SEX isn't smutty but is quite interesting and informative, an abridged version of which (at least the historical/evolutionary development portion) appeared first in his History of the Universe, volume one.

He also put out occasional guest submissions in Discover magazine along with the (decreasing in art quality as he produced stuff at a faster rate) Cartoon guide to Physics, The Cartoon Guide to the Computer, the Cartoon Guide to Genetics, The Cartoon Guide to American History and presumably much, much more.
