AIDS activist and openly homosexual roommate on the third season of MTV's Real World (Remember the San Francisco cast, how could you forget Puck!). Zamora wound up becoming AIDS' most visual casualty when he died on November 11, 1994, shortly after the show aired.
Born in Cuba, Zamora came to the US in 1980. He discovered he was HIV positive when he was 17, due to unprotected sex. After that he became a avid AIDS activist and educator.
While the series aired, viewers watched Zamora grow continually sicker, and sicker. MTV drew criticism for letting him go without health insurence before setting up a fund for donations. Even though the cast of Real World are on call 24 hours a day, and are basically "working for" MTV, they do not qualify for health benefits since they aren't technically employed by the company.
