Details
This station's escalators are the longest in the system, and some of the longest in the western hemisphere - 230 feet in length, a ride of more than four minutes. There are a number of strip malls in the immediate vicinity, and a small mall with a JCPenney and a Hecht's store.

From here you can...
go back to the Metro project,
jump to the red line,
go inbound to Forest Glen,
or outbound to Glenmont.

Wheaton (along with Forest Glen) is also unusual in that there are two separate tunnels at platform level, one for Glenmont-bound trains and one for Shady Grove-bound trains; most stations have only a single tunnel per line, with trains in both directions running either on the sides (the default, doors opening left side!) or down the center (doors opening right side!).

Having two separate tunnels reminds me of many stations of the London underground to the point that it comes as a surprise not to find any Cadbury Egg vending machines or Way Out (not to be confused with Far Out) signs.
