ANEMO'TIS ('Anemotis), the subduer of the winds, a surname of Athena under which she was worshipped and had a temple at Mothone in Messenia. It was believed to have been built by Diomedes, because in consequence of his prayers the goddess has subdued the storms which did injury to the country. (Paus. iv. 35. § 5.)
