Computer telephony, a misnomer, was the idea of replacing big, closed, proprietary computers made by the likes of Octel, with PCs equipped with voice processing cards made by the likes of Dialogic, Natural Microsystems andRhetorex. It succeeded in reducing Octel's costs, rather than creating revolutionary change. Computer telephony APIs, like TAPI, are not available on Linux. The best remedy would be for Dialogic to port their S.100 implementaion, and their board dirvers, to Linux.
