vampire (poetry)

Vampires are fictional characters,
nothing more.

There aren't people who sleep all day so they can
stay up all night,
taking advantage of others.

There's no one who will sneak into your life
to turn you into
someone altogether different from how you were before.

You will not wake up one day
in a town that has decayed around you,
surrounded by friends who have grown old while you
have not aged at all.

Vampires are fictional characters,
nothing more, nothing less.
