WITNNESS™ 2001
spelt with a double "n" as in the name of the sponsor Guinness, is a festival
of epic proportions here in Ireland. After the success of Witnness 2000 the huge
weekend event appears to be becoming an annual fixture. Picking up from and perhaps even
improving on the traditions of Féile and other festivals worldwide, camping facilities
are available for a small surcharge.
The event hosts an impressive array of acts this year with over 50 bands appearing on
the 5 stages over the weekend. Guests include such diverse talents as Texas and Stereo
MC's, Alabama 3 and Placebo, Faithless and The Saw Doctors!
Witnness is running over the August bank holiday weekend (Saturday the fourth and
Sunday the fifth) at the Fairyhouse racecourse in Meath.
Having heard the stories my friends and neighbours told in the pub for the last twelve
months - I made sure to get a ticket for this event ASAP, no way was I going to miss out
again this year.

To make the site easy to get to, Dublin Bus will be putting on 150 buses on both days from
Dublin to Fairyhouse Racecourse. Leaving Upper O'Connell Street from 11.30 AM 22 there's a
bus every 20 minutes. the journey takes about 22 minutes. The last departure is at 5 PM.
Dublin Bus will be charging a £13 return fare.
