Contrary to
Massy's write-up, "Mika Bomb" is, in fact, the erroneous misspelling of a fantastically
spurt-worthy Japanese
indie punk-queen
pop band who are signed on
Damaged Goods and couldn't get any better if they got all
naked at their gigs. The correct spelling is "
Mikabomb", but the error occurs due to
stupid people selling
bootleg badges with a made-up logo and the
rüttered misuse of a keyboard by a web designer's
Flashophile son. Unfortunately, despite the band's
protestation and
reiteration, the mistakenly horrid syntax of the added space has has stuck.
Mikabomb is the
brainchild of Mika Handa, the lead singer. She came to London in 1998 and decided to form the
craziest, hottest and punkest
Japanese rock band ever. Since then, Mikabomb has included ten members and have played dozens of gigs throughout Europe. The current line-up is
Mika Handa,
Mika Kanayama,
Haruna Hayashi and British drummer,
Ergi. They are currently working on a follow-up
album, but nobody seems to have any idea when it will be released. Still, they make
awesome music and everyone should see them live, buy all their
CDs then go tell their friends.
