Former vocalist of the Metal band Life of Agony, Keith actually had had singing lessons (as opposed to most other Metal vocalists) before he joined the band, which signed with Roadrunner Records in 1992. Keith brought his melodious voice into the heavy angst-rock mix of Life of Agony, giving the band "that certain something". Caputo stayed with the band until 1998, then left stating he didn't feel like playing heavy music anymore.

February 14, 2000 was the European release date of Caputo's solo album, Died Laughing, a strong contrast to his earlier music. It is more euphoric, with string and instrumental compositions.
