LCD Soundsystem (not to be confused with the trance act LCD who remixed 'Zorba's Dance') is a New York underground musical act whose only release so far is the DFA Records 12 inch single 'Losing My Edge', with 'Beat Connection (extended disco dub)' on the B side. Both songs are amazing dance-rock hybrids that recall The Fall, Talking Heads, Krautrock, disco, dub and electro.
The man behind it is James Murphy, who is, with Tim Goldsworthy, co-founder of DFA Records and half of the production team DFA, which stands for Death From Above, and should not be confused with the Italian progressive rock band of the same name. If you believe what you read on the internet, they have done production and remixing for Radiohead, Beck, Primal Scream, Massive Attack, The Beta Band, Can, UNKLE, Tortoise, Trans Am, Le Tigre, David Holmes, Radio 4, Six Finger Satellite, June of 44, Les Savy Fav, Aerial M, BS 2000, Zero Zero, Turing Machine and The Rapture. They work at the Plantain Recording House. The other artists on DFA Records are The Rapture, Juan Maclean and Black Dice.
