These are the lyrics to the song "New Boy" by The Connells as heard on their album "Ring". The lyrics and the music were written by Mike Connell. I like this song, hence my handle.

Some people might interpret the phrase "get down on your knees" as a sexual BDSM reference. I, however, don't interpret it that way. To me that line, as well as the rest of the song, is about the feelings you have in a new relationship. Half of you wants to give yourself to this new person and new relationship. The other half of you wants to break away and retain your freedom. The line that has "get down on your knees" is followed by a line that has the phrase "I'm trying". These two lines represent when the other person says "Let's go do <insert something boring>" and you say "okay". You may not like it, but you do it for the new relationship.

Sometimes I get the feeling things won't fall apart.
Sometimes I think its gone too far.
Sometimes I have the feeling things seem pretty nice.
Then again, sometimes I'd like to leave you twice.
Once we decide upon it, we won't fall apart.
This time I think its gone too far.

And you get where you can't decide,
don't ask any other.
And you get where you can't decide...

* repeat this stanza twice *
Didn't I say sorry, didn't I say dear
Didn't I consider, didn't I stand clear
Didn't you say new boy, get down on your knees
Didn't I say trying, I'm trying, I'm trying

Didn't I say sorry, didn't I say no
Didn't you consider, didn't I let go
Didn't you say new boy get down on the floor
Didn't I say maybe, I'm trying, I'm trying

Didn't I say sorry, didn't I say slow
Didn't you consider, didn't you say no
Didn't you say something, 'bout something I said
Didn't I say trying, I'm trying, I'm trying

Didn't I say sorry, didn't I say yes
Didn't you consider, didn't I confess
Didn't you say new boy get down on your knees
Didn't I say maybe, I’m trying, I’m trying

Sometimes I get this feeling things won't fall apart.
Then again, sometimes I think its gone too far, too far...
