Babysitting (thing)

Not too bad of a job if you find decent kids. Good way to get some spending money, that's for sure. I just had a fun experience today, wherein I realized what they're really paying me for:

• To put up with NSync, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera for a long time.
• To not only ensure the kids' safety, but to make sure they don't kill each other.
• To let the kids have some time during which they can make messes, yell, and be stupid and actually not get into trouble.
• So that someone listens to their kids every once in awhile. They talk like there's no tomorrow and they've been mute all of their life until that day.
• To ensure that the kids don't spend their whole entire lives watching television. Someone new, put there solely to entertain them, is cause to no longer have an interest in T.V.
• And, of course, so they can leave and spend some time being adults.

Now for my favorite conversation of the day: (keep in mind that I've prepared food for them a number of times before)

4-year-old girl points, "What's that?"
I reply, "A zit."
"What?"
"A pimple. It's just something that teenagers get."
"Are you a teenager?"
"Yup."
"Does that mean you can cook?"
