A small
pot made out of
clay.
Nearly any type of clay can be used for this:
kiln-bake,
self-hardening,
oven-bake, or even
kids' clay. Whichever is chosen is based on its
function and
permanence.
A pinch pot is made simply by rolling a
ball of clay, larger than a
nickel at the very least, and pressing your
thumb into the middle of it. Press the clay between your thumb and
index finger while
rotating it. This will eventually form a
small bowl. It is up to you to decide the
thickness of the
walls and whether it will have a flat bottom or remain
round.
Pinch pots are nice for
decoration or holding small things that you can lose easily (with the exception of
socks). You can
paint them or at least
glaze them with something shiny to impress your
mom.
