You've heard his voice
somewhere. He was the host
of American Top 40
(or something) on radio
for many years, with a television
; the "Top __" franchise has mutated over time, but I suspect he's still at it. He has also done voices in cartoons
for years; he was the voice of Robin
in the old Batman
toons, for instance.
Kasem is what you might term a "limousine liberal", but he seems a bit too sincere (in spite of his on-air insincerity as a DJ - the smuggled-out tapes reveal much) to be lumped in with those offenders; he's also an activist, of sorts, for Arab-American issues, being, I think, of Lebanese descent. Jean Kasem, Casey's wife, had a recurring role on Cheers, which led to a brief spinoff called The Tortellis. Right?
On June 15, 2014, Kasem died at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington at the age of 82 after a long battle with Lewy body dementia.
