Back in the Glory Days of my Childhood, kids would greatly anticipate the weekend so they could get up earlier than they would on a school day to watch Saturday morning cartoons. We'd sit in front of the television for hours eating sweet cereal ("candy for breakfast" is what my dad called 'em) and watch cartoons like "Scooby-Doo," "Jonny Quest," "The Hair Bear Bunch," "Transformers," "Josie and the Pussycats," "Speed Buggy," "Mighty Man and Yukk," "Super Friends," "Jabberjaw," "Land of the Lost," "The Smurfs," "H. R. Pufinstuf," "The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour," "Laffalympics," "Masters of the Universe," and many, many, many others.

Nowadays, they still have some good cartoons on TV, but they play them all through the week, so getting up early to watch cartoons on Saturday isn't as important to kids as it once was.
